Three Peaks Challenge

Feel like a challenge?? How about climbing a moutain?? Too easy?? Ok, then lets climb three. Harder?? Ok, all in 24 hours. Now we're talking!!!

In an effort to raise money and awareness for testicular and ovarian cancer research, and to have a good laugh, Scare Down There is organising an attempt at completing the Three Peaks Challenge on 20-21st August 2010. The aim of this is to scale the highest peaks in England (Scafell Pike), Wales (Snowdon) and Scotland (Ben Nevis) all within 24 hours.

Even though these are the three highest mountains in the UK and are not to be underestimated, they are also far easier to climb then their reputations would suggest, and we will be walking the easiest route for all three peaks. Anyone of reasonable fitness should be able to complete the challenge, though we advise you to practice on some local hills before the main event. You won't have to carry anything more than a few bottles of water and any snack food you need for each peak, and meals will be provided between peaks.

The challenge is set for Friday 20th-Saturday 21st August, starting at Ben Nevis then moving down to Scafell Pike and finishing at Snowdon. We'll be spending the night in Wales to have a celebratory dinner and a few drinks before heading back the next day, probably tired and sore but successful!! Transport will be provided from Northern Ireland with detours available to collect people en route.
